Feeding Treatment Using the TR-eatTM Model
There are several treatment options available using the TR-eatTM model.
Outpatient feeding therapy incorporates a transdisciplinary model and is typically 1-3 times per week for 45-60 minute sessions. Outpatient interventions provide direct care for the child with the intention of teaching the parents how to implement the plan in the home setting. This is recommended for children with mild to moderate feeding difficulties. It is also useful to shape basic skills for children with severe feeding deficits to prepare for the intensive day program. Outpatient therapy might also be recommended following the intensive program to carry over progress and continue to build skill development.
Intensive day patient programs are also available at both of the centers mentioned above. The transdisciplinary model is utilized with a high frequency of 3-4 therapy sessions each day concentrated into a brief period of consecutive weeks. Therapy is offered daily ( 5 days per week) for 6-8 weeks. Intensive therapy is appropriate for children with moderate to severe feeding difficulties, complex medical or social situations, or who live outside of commuting distance to the center.
Individual consultation is also available for parents or therapists with children requiring feeding therapy. We can help establish a treatment plan that fits your specific needs. Contact us to learn more.
